The RUH location and transport considerations

The Bath Centre for Pain Services (BCPS) has recently relocated from Bath city centre to Bernard Ireland House, at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Combe Park. RUH is 1.5 miles west of the city centre, in the Weston suburb.

The Hospital does have a small amount of public parking. Unfortunately like all Hospitals, demand for parking is extremely high and we can not guarantee you'll always find a space. As a result, we always recommend that visitors leave plenty of time for their journey and consider using Park & Ride bus services or other public transport options.

The Odd Down Park and Ride (service 42) runs every 30 minutes from 6.25 am to 7.15pm, Monday to Friday and stops at the RUH. The journey takes approximately 20minutes. Click here, to view the Park & Ride timetable.

To explore other RUH public transport options, including using rail and city centre buses, please click here.

If driving to the Hospital is the only feasible mode of transport, click here to find out more about Hospital parking charges and click here for methods of payment.

Please note that if you are a disabled badge holder, you are entitled to park free of charge in designated spaces. However, you will still need to either present your badge at main reception for exemption or telephone 01225 826274 prior to arriving at the hospital. Further details on this process can be found here.

If you have specific questions related to Hospital parking, please visit the RUH parking specific FAQs or call 01225 826274 / email ruh-tr.carparking@nhs.net.

How to find BCPS once on the RUH site

A map of the RUH site, including where to find BCPS (Building E2, Bernard Ireland House) is located below.

Our new home is tucked away from the main track and as a result, it can be a bit tricky to find.

Our top tip: Head towards Hillview Lodge, almost immediately opposite the lodge is a small side road, turn down this road and look to your right. Close to the top of this side road you will see a small opening and passage way. Head through this opening and it will take to the main entrance of E2.

Please note BCPS is located a steady 5 minute walk from the main Hospital parking area.

There is a drop off point very close to the E2 passage way. However, you are only able to stay there for 20 minutes, after which an £80 fine will be issued in the post. With this in mind it is really important that you drop loved ones off for appointments and then park, or, allow extra time to walk over together from either the main carpark or main entrance (where the buses ordinarily drop off).
