About Us
Welcome to the website for the Bath Centre for Pain Services (BCPS), part of the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases NHS Foundation Trust. We are a centre of excellence for the provision of intensive rehabilitation services for adults, young adults and adolescents with chronic pain. We aim to enhance individuals' daily functioning, allowing them to return to activities that are important to them, whether their pain is reduced or not. The unit has a national and an international reputation for its clinical services, research and education programmes.
History
The BCPS started providing clinical services for adults in 1994. In 1999 it launched the first
adolescent pain management programme in Europe. More recently, in 2006,
we launched a young adult programme to directly address the need of
those aged between 18-30 with chronic pain. The unit also runs the only residential
nurse supported, high dependency programme for adults with chronic pain in the UK.
Choosing Us
Our services are available to patients with all types of chronic pain. Our assessment criteria are only that
an individual’s pain should be persistent, disabling and not adequately helped by other treatments. The unit is
a national service, and accepts referrals from throughout the UK. For referral advice, please click here.
